  • Justo L. Pozo (BA ’80), president of Preferred Care Partners Inc., has been elected to the board of directors of the Florida International University Foundation.
  • Maria M. Yip (BACC ’91), executive director of the Miami office of Daylight Forensic and Advisory, has joined the School of Accounting Advisory Board. Yip is a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner with fifteen years of experience in the field.
  • BAC Florida bank has appointed Joaquin Arguello (BBA ’91) to senior vice president in charge of the bank’s domestic banking division. Previously, Arguello was senior vice president and market manager at BankUnited.
  • Insurance firm InSource Inc. has added William L. Parker (BBA ’93) as a partner. Parker specializes in contract surety, construction, and risk management accounts.
  • Congratulations to Ana-Margarita Torres (BS ’96) and Mike Torres (BBA ’96) on the new addition to their family. Paola Andrea Torres was born on May 31, 2007. She was 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 18½ inches. Her proud brother is Tomas Daniel Torres, who is 3 years old.
  • Alumni Circle Chairman, Demian Bellumio (BBA ’00), and his company, Hoodiny Entertainment Group, were featured in South Florida Business Journal’s August issue. In its latest round of financing, Hoodiny Entertainment Group said it has raised more than $9 million from investors in the United States and Spain.
  • Janaina Ribeiro (IMBA ’07) has joined Lehman Brothers as part of its Private Investment Management Department.
