Real estate community networking event is not just big—it’s mega.

Mega you say? Most definitely, as five area universities—University of Miami School of Architecture, University of Central Florida, University of Florida Friends & Alumni of Real Estate, Florida State University Real Estate Network and the Nova Southeastern University Real Estate Network—came together to join Florida International University (FIU) for the recent Real Estate Alumni Mega Happy Hour Networker. Held at the Tarpon Bend restaurant in Coral Gables, the event was hosted by FIU’s Real Estate Alumni Affinity Council (REAAC).

More than 100 real estate professionals, alumni, students, faculty and community members gathered to mix, mingle and discuss the current South Florida real estate market.

“We thought it a great idea to reach out to other alumni groups that share our passion and commitment to real estate,” said Dan Berkovitz (BBA ’10), president, REAAC. “We are delighted with the results and hope to plan another Mega Networker event in the near future.”

Berkovitz offers a special “thank you” to Wayne Eldred from Tarpon Bend who gave the attendees free drink tickets and served them delicious complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

Attendee sees mega benefits from networking event.

A residential realtor currently enrolled in the College of Business Administration’s MSIRE program, Paola Echeverri (BS ’06) attended this event because she saw it as a great networking opportunity.

“Not only was this an enjoyable experience but also a very fruitful one,” she said. “I met some very important people, which allowed me to expand my network. In real estate, a network is fundamental to your success. It was also very interesting to share thoughts and ideas with students and staff from other schools.”

What’s next on the REAAC calendar?
