Three graduate programs —MIB, MSIRE and MSHRM — offered online in fall 2012.

Florida International University (FIU) has been actively engaged in online teaching since 1998. Now the highly-ranked Chapman Graduate School in the College of Business Administration has announced that in fall 2012 three programs—the Master in International Business (MIB), the Master of Science in International Real Estate (MSIRE) and the Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM)—will join the Corporate MBA in the college’s online graduate programs line-up.

With access to the Internet, graduate students can take classes, have immediate access to all class materials, chat with professors, submit assignments, take exams, have discussions and work on projects with classmates, get support and receive academic advice. The same professors who teach on campus conduct online classes.

Online MIB offers essential knowledge of international marketplace.

FIU’s MIB program has long been prized by students seeking knowledge in conducting business around the world.

“Starting in the fall, you can earn an MIB in one year without leaving your home, family, job or country,” said Wendy Gelman (BBA ’89), who has been teaching online for over 10 years.

Students take the entire MIB program online, except for Dual Degree students who will have a two-week residency in Miami at the beginning of the program.

Gelman added that online learning at FIU includes discussions, interactive assignments, guest speakers, one-on-one meetings with instructors, working with international classmates and other outstanding advantages.

Online MSIRE is only one of its kind.

“FIU is the only accredited college of business offering a Master of Science in International Real Estate, a program now in its seventh year,” said William Hardin, director of real estate programs in the college. “Starting in the fall, that same one-of-a-kind degree program will be offered completely online, only at FIU.”

Hardin reported that the intensive and extensive program can be completed in 10 to 12 months using only online learning.

“Our core demographic is probably the person with three to seven years in real estate in a broad context, including agents, lenders, commercial brokers and developers,” he said. “This program delivers a breadth of knowledge that complements the narrow focus that most young professionals have.”

Classes will begin August 20, 2012 for the Online Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM). Direct inquiries to 305.348.3125 or onlineprograms@fiu.edu
