State Farm Financial Literacy Lab wins national award.

A national financial planning magazine has awarded its top honor to a Florida International University (FIU) College of Business program that brings financial literacy education to low-income students.

The State Farm Financial Literacy Lab and Helen Simon, senior instructor and a certified financial planner who brought the program to the lab, were selected by Financial Planning as the team winner in its second annual Pro Bono Planners of the Year award. The award recognizes individuals and teams that serve as role models for others, and that bring financial planning services to populations that could not otherwise afford or access planners’ expertise.
