FIU Business is the clear leader in the world for real estate research.

FIU Business has been ranked No. 1 in the world for real estate research productivity by the Journal of Real Estate Literature.

FIU Business surpassed the well-known National University of Singapore for the top spot internationally in the just released rankings following six consecutive years in one of the top two spots.

“This ranking reflects the rigorous dedication to research excellence that is a hallmark of the Hollo School of Real Estate at FIU Business,” said William Hardin, interim dean of FIU Business. “We are gratified by the recognition of the Journal of Real Estate Literature as FIU Business continues its service as thought leadership partners to our business community.”

The Real Estate Academic Leadership (REAL) rankings highlight faculty and university contributions to the field of real estate research from 2017-2021. FIU Business faculty outranked those of established programs including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Florida State University, Cornell University, and University of Wisconsin – Madison.

“The Hollo School of Real Estate at FIU Business is continuing to gain momentum, with the increasing quality of graduates and on the research front as well as with the support we receive from the professional real estate community,” said Eli Beracha, director of the Hollo School.

The rankings are based on the number of publications in the top three peer-reviewed real estate journals: the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Research, and Real Estate Economics – from 2017-2021. During that period, FIU’s real estate faculty members had 52 contributions.

“After slowly reaching the No. 1 position in the U.S. in terms of research productivity, we tied last year for No. 1 in the world and this year we are the clear No. 1 institution in the world by a large margin,” Beracha added.

Three FIU Business real estate professors were ranked in The top 5 of the REAL Author Rankings. Hardin, who published 14 articles was ranked No. 2. Professor Zhenguo Lin, with 12 articles, was ranked No. 3 and Eli Beracha, who published 11 articles, tied for fourth place.

In addition to the Master of Science in International Real Estate, offered in both traditional and online forums, FIU Business offers an undergraduate degree in real estate, and houses the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute.
