Some are developing a business plan, securing financing and making the adjustment to being self-employed. An article appearing in The Miami Herald on June 24, 2009, quotes Irma Becerra-Fernandez, director of the Eugenio Pino and Family Global Entrepreneurship Center at Florida International University (FIU) commenting on the thorny matter of risk, inherent in any new venture.

On June 30, 2009, the article appeared on bnd.com, which serves Southwestern Illinois and the St. Louis, Missouri, region.
