Hurricane Dorian update: Classes canceled Friday, Saturday

Hurricane Update

Dear members of the university community,

We regret to inform you that classes are canceled Friday and Saturday (Aug. 30 and 31, 2019) at all FIU locations and online in preparation for Hurricane Dorian.

The campuses will remain open. Faculty and staff will need to report to work as scheduled. The libraries, food services, recreation centers and other operations will keep regular hours until further notice.

Please take time over the next two days to prepare and secure the necessary supplies and monitor local media and pay attention to updates from the National Hurricane Center.

Our goal is to keep our campuses safe and get them up and running as soon as possible after the storm. Stay alert to official university communication through email and on social media channels regarding operations next week. On-campus residents are receiving specific instructions from the Department of Housing and Residential Life at MMC and Bayview management at BBC.

Please make good use of this time to prepare and take responsibility for your own safety and your family.

Stay safe.
