Baptist Health South Florida has launched a unique post-graduate fellowship for graduates of the FIU Business Healthcare MBA program, with the participation of FIU Business faculty.
The Baptist Health South Florida-Florida International University Postgraduate Fellowship in Healthcare Administration is a multidisciplinary, 13-month, paid program designed to prepare recent graduates for a career in healthcare administration. The fellowship will provide future healthcare executives with opportunities to gain hands-on and in-depth understanding of hospital and health system administration in a complex regional healthcare system. The fellowship’s vision is to educate, train and retain future healthcare administrators to serve the South Florida community. Two positions will be available each year.
Fellows will rotate through a variety of administrative areas within the organization and, under the general supervision of rotation directors and preceptors, will be responsible for completing projects, presentations and other assignments. Fellows will also participate in strategic decision making and issue resolution.
As part of the application process, prospective fellows will select their preference(s) for specialty track training areas, which may include legal, human resources, strategic planning, etc. Specialty track availability changes from year to year based on organizational goals and needs. When possible, the program will be tailored to the interests and professional needs of the participant.
As part of its affiliation with FIU Business, faculty from the Healthcare MBA program will support the program through curriculum design. The 18-month Healthcare MBA program, offered in a blended in-person and online format, was recently inducted into the prestigious CAHME Mentorship Circle. It is one of only two programs in Florida accredited by CAHME, the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, and AACSB, the global accreditation agency for colleges of business.
Applications for the program opened on June 10, 2020 and will be accepted through October 1, 2020. The program will begin in August 2021. For more information about submitting an application, email AdminFellow@BaptistHealth.com.
