College welcomes new employees.

The College of Business Administration is pleased to announce the following new staff members.

Frinee Berrios is a program assistant for the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) and the Master of Science in International Real Estate programs (MSIRE). She fields phone calls, greets visitors, maintains logs, schedules appointments and provides basic information on both master’s programs. She also assists the MSF program director and staff, carries out day-to-day office activities, updates and maintains student records and assists in the processing of students’ registrations to both programs. She holds an Associate of Arts in nursing from Miami Dade College and is a pre-nursing student at FIU.

Erin Dowd (MA ’10, BBA ’08) serves as program coordinator of marketing and recruitment for the Executive MBA (EMBA) and the Professional MBA (PMBA). She coordinates the admissions and recruiting for both programs; advises prospective students and applicants about the programs and admissions process; organizes recruitment events; and assists in the development of recruitment materials. Her graduate degree is in international studies and her undergraduate major was in international business.

Przemyslaw “Shemeck” Filec (BBA ’11) has been named new media manager in the Center for Leadership (CFL). In this role, he leads all the e-marketing initiatives and projects. He also manages CFL’s social media, which includes Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, iTunes Podcast and YouTube. In addition, he manages the center’s website, newsletter and other technology- and media-related projects. His degree is in management information systems.

Cesar Garcia is operations assistant for the Executive and Professional MBA (EMBA and PMBA) programs. He assists in maintaining the overall quality and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the programs, which entails coordinating logistical support and fiscal management for program activities and preparing faculty contracts, course evaluations, requisitions, purchase orders, university invoices, travel, expense reports and other accounts payables and receivables. He has a Bachelor of Science in advertising from the University of Florida.

Shannon A. Hanson (BBA ’07) now holds the position of administrative coordinator in the Center for Leadership. Her primary role is to support the Principals Leadership Development Program (PLDP) through planning and managing its curriculum and all related program logistics. Her undergraduate major was in international business and she expects to complete her MBA in human resource management from Strayer University this September.

Majelissa M. Luna (MIB ’10, BBA ’07) is senior program manager for the Global MBA. She is responsible for the collaboration between FIU and universities in Jamaica, Panama and the Dominican Republic. As part of that collaboration, she will lead the college’s efforts in recruitment/information sessions; admissions, faculty assignments and academic issues, among many tasks. Her bachelor’s degree is in international business and marketing with a certificate in Latin American & Caribbean Studies.

As e-marketing assistant in the Department of Marketing, Communications and Recruiting, Ye Shen assists with online advertising and awareness of the college’s graduate programs to students in China. She circulates news and events from the business school on Chinese websites and provides English-to-Chinese translation of the International MBA (IMBA) program website. She takes on additional tasks as assigned by the director of marketing and the e-marketing coordinator. Her undergraduate degree is in international business from Shandong Economic University, and expects to graduate from the IMBA in August.

Cynthia Teijeiro has been named the program coordinator for the Executive Master of Science in Taxation (EMST). Among a variety of tasks, she coordinates all aspects of the EMST program’s execution and operations; counsels and advises students regarding information, procedures and admissions requirements to the program; and collaborates with the Chapman Graduate School’s admissions office to register all students into the program. She also assists in the development of recruiting materials for the EMST. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in management from the University of Miami in 2010.

Isis Wright (BBA ’95) is now associate director of marketing and recruiting for the Executive MBA (EMBA) and the Professional MBA (PMBA) programs. In this position, she develops and executes strategic marketing and recruiting plans for the two programs; fosters relationships with internal and external constituents to increase awareness and exposure for the programs; oversees and manages the process and enrollment cycle for each program; creates engaging opportunities for new prospects and students; and evaluates and advises prospective students. At FIU, she majored in marketing and international business and she has an MBA from the University of Miami.

The State Farm Financial Literacy Lab has several new employees.

Samantha Davis holds the title interim to permanent administrative coordinator/assistant director. She prepares and conducts financial literacy presentations on behalf of the lab in the areas of personal financial management and financial crime/identity theft and oversees and coordinates the Financial Literacy Program. In addition, she is responsible for the lab’s daily operations, supervising interns and preparing the meeting minutes for the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF). She also coordinates SMIF’s Global Asset Management Education (G.A.M.E.) competition, and assists in the marketing and overall development of the lab and its initiatives. She expects to graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration in August with a major in finance.

Elin Gutierrez, currently enrolled as an undergraduate in the college’s finance program, serves as a student assistant. She works on the lab’s research and software applications—Bloomberg, FTS, RIT, Crystal Ball, @Risk, Think or Swim and Sales Force—and presents to the lab staff on software applications.

Shaun Hoyes is a student assistant who prepares and conducts financial literacy presentations on behalf of the lab in the areas of business management and business ethics. He contributes to the “Weekly Market Wrap-Up,” a regular feature on BizNews; maintains the lab’s social media; handles the lab’s IT maintenance and research; and participates in its writing activities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in communication with a second major in history and is pursuing an MBA with an expected graduation in 2012.

Technical assistant Bijan Knight (BBA ’10) supports the lab’s research and software applications such as trading simulators, its Bloomberg terminal and Excel; and prepares and conducts financial literacy presentations on behalf of the lab in the areas of monetary policy and financial markets. He majored in finance.
