Alumni Notes: April 2012

Tony Argiz (BBA ’74), chairman and CEO, Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC, was chosen to throw out the first pitch at the FIU/Marlins baseball game, one of the first games played at the new Marlins Stadium. Argiz originally came to FIU on a baseball scholarship.

The City of Miami Arts and Entertainment Council has added Howard R. Miller (BBA ’79) to its board of directors. He is president of Howard R Miller Communications and chairman of the Synergy Entertainment group.

BankUnited named Rosary Plana Falero (MBA ’94, BBA ’91) senior vice president of private banking. She was previously head of private banking group for City National Bank of Florida.

Congratulations to William Somerville (MBA ’02) on the birth of his son, Liam Rey Somerville on April 10, 2012. The baby weighed eight pounds, 10 ounces.

Goldstein Schechter Koch has named Mark Guthrie (MSF ’04) chief financial officer and chief administrative officer. He has spent over 15 years as a financial executive and operations leader.

City National Bank of Florida named Gonzalo Acevedo (EMBA ’10) managing senior vice president. He was previously a senior vice president in SunTrust’s private wealth management division.
