FIU Business sets record for number of graduate students enrolled for spring term.

Eleven programs in the Chapman Graduate School in Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Business admit students in the spring as well as the fall. This year, the business school topped the enrollment numbers from previous springs—390 people opted to enroll in the college’s flexible offerings for working professionals. The menu includes fully classroom programs, one fully online program and a format that combines online learning and regular face-to-face engagement with the faculty and classmates.

Of particular note was the successful launch of a completely redesigned Executive MBA (EMBA). The revamped program focuses on experiential exercises built around case studies, projects and dialogues.

An information-packed orientation for new graduate students took place on January 4, 2013 at the College of Business.

Two versions of the Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM) proved equally popular, with the classroom-based structure and a fully online version—initially offered in the fall 2012 semester—drawing nearly the same number of students.

Not only does the college offer the choices of on-site, online or a mixture, but also it delivers programs at its new FIU Downtown on Brickell, the FIU Broward Pines Center and the Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Orientation eases transition to graduate work.

On January 4, 2013, the graduate programs got off to a warm start with an orientation, attended by about 250 of the students. Christos Koulamas, senior associate dean of the college, and Kevin O’Shea, associate dean, University Graduate School, welcomed the group.

Breakout sessions for the individual programs also took place, enabling the students to meet their classmates as well as faculty and program staff, and to learn about services available to them.

In addition to the EMBA and the two versions of the MSHRM, the spring semester is underway for the Corporate MBA (CMBA), the Healthcare MBA (HCMBA), the Master of Accounting (MACC), the Master of International Business (MIB), the Master of Science in Finance (MSF), the Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MSMIS), the Professional MBA Fixed Schedule Broward (PMBA Broward) and the Professional MBA Flexible Schedule (Flex MBA).
