PhD Pipeline workshop focuses on application process.

On April 18, 2013, the PhD Pipeline—which encourages minority undergraduates to consider pursuing a doctorate in business—hosted its last information workshop of the 2012-2013 academic year at Florida International University (FIU). Facilitated by FIU students and one FIU staff member, the workshop focused on the application process.

Panelist Jessica Mari, who along with Arturo Castellanos, Jose Galeilate, Stephanie Paredes, Elizabeth Turner and Sheng Yi, provided key information.

A panel of PhD students explained how they chose the schools to which they applied, offered tips on how to be successful in the GMAT and shed light on ways to obtain strong letters of recommendation. They also provided a recap of their experiences to date.

Antoinette Smith, associate professor, School of Accounting in the College of Business, leads the PhD Pipeline effort at FIU.
