Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems

An article titled “The Future of Nursing—Leadership” by Neera Bhansali, visiting clinical assistant professor, appeared in the May issue of Hospital News and Healthcare Report.

Joyce J. Elam, professor and James L. Knight Eminent Scholar Chair in Management Information Systems, was featured in an article titled “Women on the Move Joins FIU Leadership Brand,” published on May 23rd in Miami Today. The program has been offered for ten years as “Women on the Move” and will now be known as “The Women Leaders Program.”

Department of Management and International Business

Modesto Maidique, professor and Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Eminent Scholar Chair, was quoted in the May 23rd Miami Today article titled “Women on the Move Joins FIU Leadership Brand,” The program, rebranded as “The Women Leaders Program” is offered through the Center for Leadership (CFL), of which Maidique is the executive director.

Seema Pissaris, professor, was quoted in two articles in The Miami Herald: “Inspiration and collaboration propel winning Eye Talk team” on May 6th and Young entrepreneurs redefining work world on May 14th.

Two members of the department presented at the Greater Miami Society of Human Resource Management program on April 16th. Juan I. Sanchez, professor and Knight Ridder Byron Harless Eminent Scholar Chair in Management, was a panelist on the topic “HR’s Evolving Role in Corporate Climate Change.” Marc Weinstein, clinical associate professor, gave a brief pre-panel presentation about the college’s Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM) program.

Department of Marketing

Walfried Lassar, professor and Ryder Research Professor, served as a panelist on the topic “Marketing and Money: Linking New Products, Services and ROI.” Held May 16th, the panel was sponsored by South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum and hosted by Aventura Hospital and Medical Center.

Tibor and Sheila Hollo School of Real Estate

Suzanne Hollander, visiting instructor, participated in the 17th Annual Mercosur Professional Development in International Business (PDIB) program, organized by FIU’s Center for International Business Education and Research (FIU-CIBER). The program took place May 12th-May 21st.

Ken H. Johnson, associate professor and Tibor and Sheila Hollo Research Fellow, was quoted in an article titled “Flippers playing role in South Florida housing recovery,” which appeared in the Sun Sentinel on May 11th.
