FIU Downtown at Brickell hosts ICABA Business Forum.

Entrepreneurs, professionals, speakers and graduate students gathered for the third annual ICABA (“Identify, Connect, Activate the Black Accomplished”) Business Forum, held May 16, 2013. The event was hosted by Florida International University (FIU) College of Business at the university’s downtown Miami facility at 1101 Brickell Ave.

The 103 attendees were given in-depth information about operating a successful franchise. George W. Tinsley Sr., a former All-American athlete who owns and operates 60 franchised restaurants, delivered the keynote address during a luncheon. Workshops with topics on attracting capital and tips for franchise management, a Knight Foundation Shark Tank Competition and a network reception were also part of the forum.

“We were pleased to host ICABA at FIU’s downtown Miami facility,” said Angel Burgos, MBA executive director for FIU’s College of Business. “The event had energy, enthusiasm and excellence, to help attendees understand whether or not a franchise is their path to business success.”
