Kenneth R. Henry, clinical associate professor, was a principal contributor to the report,

“Audit and Integrity: Maximizing Shareholder Value, a Summary of ACCA Roundables in the Caribbean,” for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He is one of 37 ACCA council members worldwide.

Decision Sciences and Information Systems

Monica Tremblay, associate professor and faculty director of the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Management Systems, was a panelist at a South Florida HIMSS event, “Talent Management: Recruiting and Retaining HIT Staff in Challenging Times,” held July 25 at FIU. She also spoke at a panel discussion, “The Potential Role of FIU in a Future Cuba,” also held at FIU. )

Department of Finance

Helen K. Simon, CFP®, senior instructor, recently earned the Retirement Management Analyst℠ designation sponsored by the Retirement Income Industry Association, a retirement planning certification serving the financial services industry.

Department of Management and International Business

Angela L. Heavey, assistant professor, co-authored an article published in the May issue of the Journal of Applied Psychology entitled “Causes and Consequences of Collective Turnover: A Meta-Analytic Review.”

On June 24, Modesto Maidique, professor and Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Eminent Scholar Chair in Leadership and executive director, Center for Leadership, appeared on NotiMujer on CNN en Español with Irma Becerra-Fernandez, FIU vice president for engagement.  They were interviewed by Maria Alejandra Lequena regarding The Women Leaders Program presented by the Center for Leadership, and the role of women in the workplace and how they are breaking the glass ceiling.

Ronaldo Parente, associate professor, has published three articles in concert with co-authors:  “Lessons Learned from Brazilian Multinationals’ Internationalization Strategies: A Qualitative Research,” in the April issue of Business Horizons;  “Strategic Modularity And The Architecture of Multinational Firm.” in the January 2013 issue of Global Strategy Journal, and “The Limits to Outsourcing: Beware of the Consequences for Market Success!”  in The World Financial Review, January 2013.

Marc Weinstein, clinical associate professor, and Matthew Acevedo, an instructional designer at FIU Online, received an Exemplary Course Award  and  Director’s Choice award for development of the graduate online course Wellness Management (MAN 6157)at BbWorld, Blackboard’s annual conference, held in Las Vegas July 9-11.

Department of Marketing

Maria M. Garcia, visiting instructor, was quoted in an article by Johnny Diaz appearing in the Sun-Sentinel on May 31, After death, preserve or delete social media?

“The Role of Cultural Intelligence in Marketing Adaptation and Export Performance,” a paper written by assistant professor Peter Magnusson, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of International Marketing. In addition, his paper “The Influence of National Cultural Values on the Use of Rewards Alignment to Improve Sales Collaboration” was accepted for publication in the International Marketing Review.

Tibor and Sheila Hollo School of Real Estate

Ken H. Johnson, associate professor and faculty director, was quoted in an article in Bankrate.com, When ‘not a short sale’ is a selling point, appearing on July 5, 2013. The article also appeared on Yahoo! Finance Singapore, and several other news sites. He was also interviewed at for National Public Radio/WLRN for the story What Rising Interest Rates Mean for South Florida Real Estate.
